Here are some of our frequently asked questions!
How long does it take to ship?
Our production times are based on volume of orders and quantity in those orders. Everything is printed to order. Our typical order time is within two weeks. Occasionally we may have to order in a new color based on your requests and that can delay shipping. However we always communicate with you on delays.
Shipping seems really high!
Shipping is based on weight of the product plus packaging. We always try to be accurate with shipping prices but even the estimations can be off sometimes too. If we feel shipping looks high for an item, we will run shipping through a different company ( USPS, Pirate Ship ect) To see if we can get the cost down. If we can, we will refund the difference in shipping. Unfortunately costs to ship internationally are expensive but we will make every effort to get the best shipping price for you and will always refund any overages we can.
Can I order things customized further?
Possibly! Some of our items can be personalized with names and quotes, There is a listing for that, so be sure you grab both the item you want and the add a name listing. Bobbins are customized by color and if you do not see a color you want, send me a message! I am always hunting for new color options.
Can you design a bobbin with X on it for me?
Very likely we can! Send in your requests and we will let you know if its something we can do. We cannot personalize a bobbin with your name on it, or someone's name on it at this time. But we can do design requests.
What if I don't like the color when I get the bobbin.
We make every effort to photograph colors in many lighting situations from direct sun to indoor lighting so you are not surprised by your colors. Your monitor/screen may effect how they appear. When in doubt, send me a message and I will photograph the items for you in different lighting. Because we post many examples through our listings and color pages. They are not returnable for colors.
Can I return an item.
In some instances yes. We will do a return on items that can be resold. This means it must be returned in the condition we sent it, wrapped well for shipping and shipped back at your expense. We will refund less shipping when it is returned. Custom items with names, quotes ect are not returnable.
I broke it when I put it together, what now?
There are a couple reasons this can happen. If the product is left in the direct sun and heat, It can weaken the filament. If you have over tightened the ends when putting them on, this can also cause it to break. You should only screw on the bobbin ends until you feel the resistance/ tight as it hits the ends of the threads.
If it breaks from user error we will not replace the item. If it breaks due to design/print error, we will replace the item at no cost to you. When in doubt, please send a photo!
It came warped/ Damaged in shipping.
Oh No! Contact me immediately with photos of the issue. On very rare and hot occasions ( over 100 degrees outside) the product can warp. We do wrap in foam to help insulate but it has happened. We may delay shipping during periods of extreme heat to prevent this from happening and we will always communicate with you the risks of shipping during extreme heat periods.
Do the Nano bobbins work with the Nano1/Nano2?
Yes, the Nano1 and Nano2 upgrades did not effect the shaft/size of bobbin it took. There were some updates to the function but a new body was not created when Maurice designed the upgrades. People have been using them interchangeably on both nano versions without issues.
Do you make items for X spinning wheel.
Possibly! There are many designs out there and before we sell one, we want to test the bobbin to be sure it works. If you are interested in being a part of this testing program let me know.
Do you use the original files to print your designs for the Electric Eels.
On some items yes we do. Our bobbins started off using the original designs such as the threads and shafts. After a while we developed our own designs for the bobbins using the same dimensions so they fit perfectly in both the original flyer and the level winding system flyer. Our bobbin designs are fully our own.
What about for the other products like the color kits, orifice hooks, reducers and storage bobbins.
These are all designs created by Maurice of Dreaming Robots and all copywrite for them remains with him. He generously provides the files for anyone to print and use and we are happy to use his designs for these items. With the exception of our carrying case which is our own custom design. Files are used with permission.
What about other things you print?
Some are our own designs, some things are designs we find online and are allowed to be resold.
Do you sell your STL files?
No we dont sell them, But we do give some away for free on printables.com. Search for FlightofIcarus or Electric Eel Bobbins and you will find them!
